Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator

Creekstone is a modern, family-owned long-term care home in North Vancouver. We are seeking a full-time Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator to support engaging recreation programs and foster meaningful volunteer and community connections for our residents.

About the Role

Working closely with the Recreation Manager, you will help plan, deliver, and evaluate recreation programs while coordinating volunteers and community partnerships that enrich resident life. This role combines recreation programming, volunteer engagement, event support, and community outreach within a Person- and Family-Centred Care environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreation programs and special events.
  • Recruit, orient, schedule, support, and recognize volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships, including student and intergenerational programs.
  • Promote meaningful resident engagement through diverse recreational, cultural, and social opportunities.
  • Support recreation communications, including newsletters and social media.
  • Maintain volunteer records and ensure compliance with screening and onboarding requirements.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, team members, and community partners to enhance quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Recreation Therapy Program or Activity Assistant diploma or Certificate.
  • Experience in growing and/or managing a volunteer program including two years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Two years recent relevant experience in Long Term Care.
  • At least one year of recent relevant experience working with individuals with dementia
  • Experience in managing people would be an asset.
  • Basic computer skills (including MS Office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word).
